Kombat rocking Akron once again

We are proud to congratulate the athletes that recently competed in Akron, Ohio on March 15 2008 on the televised MMA competition, Blood, Sweat & Rock n Roll, Combat Challenge #4. Frank Marques' opponent mysteriously dropped out after the weigh ins and Fadi Nader lost a 3 round decision to a very good opponent after taking this fight on a weeks notice. Mark Strickland won his match with a 2nd round TKO by mounting his opponent and administrating a good beating. Kearn Nedd finished his opponent in the 2nd round via TKO by pummeling his opponent with boxing and knees. Finally Max Grech finished his opponent in the 2nd round via TKO in typical "Max" fashion by chopping his opponent's leg with Thai kicks like a tree until his opponent collapsed under a useless leg. GREAT WORK GUYS.

We are all very happy for your accomplishments and thanks to all of the coaches and training partners that helped make this happen. Pics here.

Congratulations Scott Lewis for achieving Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu coach, Scott Lewis, was awarded his Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu on Saturday February 2, 2008, by Nova Uniao World Champion Black Belt, Leonardo Santos. Scott has been a dedicated student of the art for many years and is very deserving of this promotion. Congratulations Scott from all your friends and students at the Kombat Arts Training Academy.

Police recognition

Congrats to Joey de Los Reyes for receiving an Appreciation Award from Barry Dolan of the Peel Regional Police for his contributions and support of police officers in sports, specifically the sport of boxing.  Thanks Barry Dolan and Andrew Tang!

Matmen floor the Competition

The Matmen Wrestling Club, which calls Mississauga’s Kombat Arts home placed second in both the boys’ and girls’ standings and first all-around, with 26 medals. Taking on 600 athletes from 24 other clubs, including perennial powerhouses Team Impact from Oshawa and the Junior Marauders from Hamilton, the Matmen floored the competition — literally.
